A Men's Intensive Outpatient Program IOP Built for Real Recovery
Our intensive outpatient program iop is designed for men who need more structure than traditional outpatient therapy can provide, but who are ready to live at home, work, or attend school while doing the work of recovery. The intensive outpatient program iop runs multiple times per week and combines evidence based approaches with the brotherhood culture Into Action Recovery has built since 2012.
We treat each man as an individual. Our clinical team works with young adults stepping into recovery for the first time, working adults rebuilding careers, and older adults reclaiming their well being. Many young adults arrive after a college crisis, while older men come carrying decades of buried trauma. We have helped young people in their early twenties and older adults in their sixties get sober through our IOP, and our therapists tailor every treatment plan and our services to provide the support each man needs.
How Our Intensive Outpatient Treatment Compares to Inpatient Treatment
Many men come to our intensive outpatient treatment after completing inpatient treatment, residential care, withdrawal management, or a partial hospitalization program. Inpatient programs and partial hospitalization deliver around-the-clock intensive support during the most fragile stage of recovery, while IOP programs allow men the freedom to keep working and living at home. Once a man has stabilized, he is ready for a higher level of independence with structure still in place.
Our outpatient program bridges that gap. IOP patients attend treatment several days per week, with three hours of programming each session, then return home or to sober living to practice what they learned. This step-down model is one of the most reliable predictors of long term recovery in the addiction treatment field, and it shapes our entire treatment program.
Group Therapy at the Center of the Brotherhood
Group therapy is the engine of our intensive outpatient treatment. Men in early recovery often feel isolated, ashamed, and disconnected. Group therapy gives them a room of brothers who get it, who push back when needed, and who support each step forward. Most IOP patients describe the group room as the moment everything starts to click.
Our IOP group sessions, led by our licensed therapists, cover relapse prevention, healthy coping skills, stress management, and the deeper work of trauma, depression, and anxiety that often drives substance use. Participants leave each week with concrete skills they can apply at home, at school, and on the job.
Individual Therapy and One-on-One Counseling
Group work is powerful, but some things need to be addressed in private. Every man in our program meets regularly for individual therapy with our licensed therapists, who provide one-on-one support. These individual sessions are a cornerstone of our IOP, where deeper trauma, mental health challenges, anxiety, and personal goals are addressed in a confidential setting.
Individual sessions use evidence based treatments, including cognitive behavioral therapy and trauma-focused approaches, to help patients build self esteem, real-world skills, and a recovery journey grounded in honest self-awareness.
- Outpatient Dual Diagnosis Treatment AZ
Addiction Treatment and Co-Occurring Disorder Treatment
Many men entering our outpatient program are dealing with more than substance use disorders alone. Our IOP integrates dual diagnosis care from intake forward. Co-occurring depression, anxiety disorders, bipolar disorder, and trauma are common, and untreated mental health conditions are one of the leading causes of relapse.
Our integrated approach to addiction treatment and dual diagnosis care includes psychiatric services, medication management, and when appropriate, medication assisted treatment supervised by our prescribing nurse practitioner. Patients receive personalized treatment plans that address both the addiction and the underlying mental health issues driving it. Where co-occurring conditions require ongoing oversight, medication management is integrated from intake forward, with clinical support at every step.
Insurance Plans Accepted at Our Scottsdale Program
We work with most major insurance plans and verify benefits at no cost before treatment begins. Our admissions team will walk you through what services your insurance covers for IOP, what your out-of-pocket costs may look like, and how to get started quickly. We accept many commercial plans. We do not accept Medicaid or Medicare.

- Frequently Asked Questions
Frequently Asked Questions About Our Intensive Outpatient Program
Below are answers to the questions men and families ask most often before entering our intensive outpatient program at Into Action Recovery in Scottsdale.
How many days per week is the IOP program?
Most men attend our IOP three to five days per week, with each session lasting roughly three hours. We offer evening options so participants can keep working, attending school, or fulfilling family responsibilities while in active treatment. Young adults still in college, working professionals, and dads with young children at home all find a schedule that fits.
How long does the intensive outpatient program last?
Length of stay depends on each man’s needs and progress. Most participants spend eight to twelve weeks in IOP before stepping down to a less intensive level of outpatient care, with aftercare planning built in from day one to support a smooth transition out of IOP.
Do you treat co-occurring mental health and substance use issues?
Yes. Our clinical team treats co-occurring substance use and mental health challenges, including depression, anxiety, PTSD, and bipolar disorder, alongside our therapists. A nurse practitioner is available for medication evaluations from day one. If a man is experiencing suicidal thoughts or acute symptoms, we coordinate the right level of care, including referral to inpatient programs or a partial hospitalization program when needed.
Will my family be involved in treatment?
Family involvement is encouraged. We hold structured family counseling sessions, offer education for family members, and provide guidance on how loved ones can offer healthy social support without enabling. Family work is one of the most powerful tools we have for protecting long term recovery, especially during IOP and beyond.
What happens after I complete the IOP?
Every man leaves our program with an aftercare plan. That typically includes step-down outpatient care, alumni community involvement, ongoing individual therapy, and connection to local recovery services. Many IOP programs end at the door. Ours doesn’t. Recovery is a lifelong process, and we stay in our patients’ corner long after the program ends.
